The latest news on stem cell hair treatment for alopecia
Currently, in the world of hair loss treatments, there are only a few approved medications to treat hair loss – all of which have potentially negative side effects. The most common form of hair loss is androgenetic alopecia, which is also referred to as male or female pattern baldness.
In a recent revelation, exciting new research from Tokyo Medical University and Toho University has revealed that the application of RCH-01 stem cells can be used as an effective treatment to help increase and regulate hair growth.

What is a stem cell treatment for the hair?
Replicel Life Sciences have partnered with Tokyo Medical University, Toho University and Shiseido Co have been working on stem cell treatment clinical trials which have proven to be successful.
RCH-01 autologous cell therapy technology uses part of the hair follicle which contains dermal sheath cup cells which are isolated from the hair follicle to treat androgenetic alopecia.
The cells are isolated from a small tissue sample, taken from the back of the scalp and used to grow and replicate more cells. They are then injected into areas of the scalp with a dermal injector to areas affected by hair loss.
The study confirmed in a press release that the safety and effectiveness of cell therapy technology and the institutions are aiming to develop cell therapy for a wide range of people suffering from sickness and thinning hair but are still in the research phase.
Is regrowing hair possible?
Hair loss can occur for several reasons. Stress, hormonal imbalances, diet and medications can all cause temporary hair loss, and the hair will usually grow back after time once the trigger has been identified and resolved.
Androgenetic alopecia is usually genetic, and the hair loss is permanent and therefore it is not possible to regrow hair without taking medications such as Finasteride or Minoxidil.
Finasteride and Minoxidil are clinically approved by the FDA to treat pattern baldness however these treatments only work for as long as they’re used and they can cause side effects, so it is not a permanent solution.
How can I regenerate my hair growth?
If your hair loss has been caused by conditions of stress, hormonal imbalances, thyroid issues or medications then your hair will potentially begin to grow back once the impacting trigger has been removed and your body returns to its natural state.
Your diet and hair care routine can have a large impact on the health of your hair so it’s important to have a healthy diet, ensure you’re taking the correct vitamins and supplements and maintain good scalp and hair routines.
As it stands, a hair transplant is the most successfully proven way to achieve a full head of hair without any nasty side effects, and they’re extremely popular, at Elithair we have over 35,000 patients with an overall 4.96 out of 5 ratings.
Is hair duplication available yet?
Whilst stem cell hair treatment approaches are becoming closer to being approved the future of hair duplication is still in its infancy. With hair reproduction, new hair is created from donor follicles in a multiplication process.
The goal with hair duplicating is not to transplant the hair, but to duplicate human hair or have hair regrow naturally where it would not previously grow.
Whilst there have been numerous previous studies on hair copying, there is no clear timeline for any clinical trials or release to the general public.
What is the latest treatment for hair loss?
Our team has been working hard on NEO FUE, a revolutionary stem cell serum that prepares the hair and scalp for hair transplants and improves the final results.
NEO FUE awakens hair follicles and enriches the microenvironment and is exclusively for Elithair patients. It is used before a hair transplant and applied with a dermaroller 7 days before the treatment and then the day before treatment occurs.
NEO FUE is playing a part in the evolution of current hair transplant techniques and has been tested on several thousand patients with increased strength and firmness of hair follicles.
The grafts are more resistant to external environmental factors during harvesting and increase the effectiveness of FUE Hair transplants by up to 30%.
Stem cell hair treatments are still in the research phase and is currently not widely available to the public. Hair transplants are still a hugely popular and successful permanent method of hair restoration, and we are continuously working on new methods and treatments to improve the quality of hair transplants for people across the globe.
